Richmond Art Society will host its Summer Exhibition at the Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th June 2019. The Private View will be held on 28th June from 6pm – 8pm, with refreshments provided.
The exhibition will feature established and emerging member artists from the Society as well as entries to a poetry themed competition connected to local poet Alexander Pope.
The exhibition will also form part of the popular Richmond Art House Open Studios trail, with a variety of works on offer including painting, drawing, prints, sculpture, ceramics, digital art and photography. On Sunday 30th, Society members will be providing free demonstrations throughout the day.
Works responding to the work of Alexander Pope, one of Britain’s most prolific poets, will be featured in a specific section entitled 'Poetic Inspiration', as this year marks the 300th anniversary of Pope moving to Twickenham. The exhibition will be opened by the Reverend of St Mary’s Church, Twickenham, where the poet is buried.
Peter Swann, Chair of Richmond Art Society, says: “We’re delighted to be able to present such a varied and quality range of works, representing a great cross section of our member artists. Visitors will be able to view and purchase a selection of affordable works that reflect the talents of local artists, as well as the inspiration provided by our rich local history.”
